The 11th German American Conference at Harvard brings together leaders from business, politics, academia and media. Taking place on November 1 – 3, 2019, it will inspire leadership, foster dialogue and promote innovation. Participants will engage in discussions on the most pressing transatlantic challenges of our time. With more than 700 participants and more than 50 speakers, it is the largest student-led conference of its kind in the United States.

Dr. Chichilnisky to present on November 2nd, 2019  9:00-10:30am. The panel itself will be in the light of the topic of the conference ‘Breaking Barriers’ – in the context of the 20th anniversary of the Fall of the Berlin Wall. We aim to talk about societal, political and technological barriers that we need to break in order to win the fight against the climate crisis. The detailed questions or specific topics of the panel are not fixed and will be heavily influenced and shaped by the interests of the speakers. No slides or presentations need to be prepared.

The panel will be a 90-minutes expert panel – for now we have confirmed the following speakers:
 Dr. Graciela Chichilsnisky – CEO & Co-Founder of Global Thermostat
 Jacqueline Patterson – Director of the NAACP Environmental and Climate Justice Program
 Luisa Neubauer (per video-stream) – Leading activist on the ‘Fridays-for-Future-Germany’
movement
 Sabine von Mering (Moderator) – Professor at Brandeis University

 

Agenda
The panel will happen during the 1 st  Panel Session on Saturday – our tentative Program Agenda for the morning of Saturday, 2nd  November:
 8-9am:                                 Registration + Breakfast
 9-10:30am:                        1 st  Panel Session (including the Panel on Climate Change)
 10:45-12:30am:               Innovation Lounge opening + Lightning Talks

There will be more panels and workshops in the afternoon and the innovation lounge will go until 5pm. The exclusive speaker dinner will be on Friday Evening starting at 7-7:30pm. The location will be in Cambridge.
