Negative emissions technologies, to include carbon capture and storage (CCS), bio-energy CCS (BECCS), direct air capture (DAC), as well as nature-based solutions, are increasingly seen as having an important role to playing in reaching ambitious net-zero targets, but costs will need to come down a long way for them to be viable. Will they deliver on a scale and timeframe to make a difference? And are they merely a costly distraction to prolong the life of fossil fuels?
